The Quiet Waters

THE QUIET WATERS
(reviving the strength for the vision)

Written by Oluwatosin Animasahun

There was a happy family of three who lived near the sea. When their child was still very small, the father said he was going out for fishing but he didn't come back home that very day; what an horrible day the devil struck a demise.

Afterward, the mother took up the responsibility of the family's heritage and began fishing since then. She was so good at fishing that she became popular in that territory, she won several awards and became so influential to the extent that her child became so proud of her and her reputation.

After the child had grown up, he decided to take up the responsibility from his mother and wished for nothing more than for his mother to become proud of him.

One day he decided to follow his mother to fishing. The mother cast the net into the water and told her son to watch her while she did her thing. They could not catch enough fish for the day so the mother decided to jump into the water so that she could drive out the fishes from their hiding places, and so that her son could catch them with the net. She wanted them to have enough fish that would sustain them for decades. Lo and behold, the mother went inside the water and suddenly, the water became quiet for a while....

The child kept watching the quiet waters, hoping to see his mother jump up the way she jumped in, then he noticed the net on his hands were adding weight; it became loaded with fishes. The child was about to drop the net and enter the water to find his mother while he saw a strange man who told  him that his mother would not be happy if he should drop the net, reminding him that it was for that reason his mother jumped into the water.

Time flew by and the child did not drop the net, thinking that it was for that reason his mother jumped into the water; anytime he wished to jump into the water to check on his mother, he would remember the words of that strange man who reminded him of the reason his mother jumped into the water.

Dear visionary, because an event triggered your mindset to see the effect of a quiet water while leveraging on that vision does not mean that there are no fishes inside your net. Even though your story may be different from the story of that boy, or that boy's story may sound incomplete compared to how elucidated yours could have turned out.

Do not focus on the event while looking at the quiet waters, but instead let your attention be shifted to the weight of that vision you are holding in your hands.

Have you shifted focus recently out of the vision that has once been your heritage? and you can't even stop chasing after the wisdom behind the event that resulted into that ideology.... Why don't you take a deep breath and blink your eyes that has been kept widely opened for some time unconsciously.

Could it be that you lost the strength to chase after that vision when you found yourself in a scene of quiet waters? Just look at the strength of what you are holding, keep looking at it while I show you the strength of what your loss has manufactured.

"We can't bring back the dead, but we are still living so that the works of the dead can live"

Does that mean the dead is dead? NO! Do I mean they are still alive? Yes they are; If only we can live to take care of the things they left us, I mean those things that are eternally worth living for.

Till we meet on my next publication, do not forget that you are responsible for your dear future, you are what defines the things you see on the mirror while standing; so take more responsibility.
