The Captain's Badge

THE CAPTAIN'S BADGE
(the concept of branding the vision)

Written by Oluwatosin Animasahun

I'd like to use this medium to appreciate all my partners and friends across the nation who have been contributing to the publications of MOFYOV both during the in-process and after process, even to the point of delivery. Thank you so much for dedicating yourself to the progress of this vision, it is my believe that we can do more together in motivating and impacting the younger generation who are at the very peak of their visions.

Branding is an important concept every visionary must understand well before propelling their vision. I have seen some visionaries who prioritize their branding more than their quality. Such people always measure their values based on how people become attracted to their products. Even though that's not the best way, we still find such visionaries existing in the cosmos.

Does that mean I am only referring to people who are planning a manufacturing company as their vision? NO, I'm not. I'm focusing on every holder of visions no matter the spheres of such visions.

For every football team, there's always a captain who does not have any distinguishing knowledge or special skills different from the other players. The job of the captain is not to make administrative decisions while the match is going on. Of course he is not the coach. It is the coach that sees to the affairs of the team. Why then is the captain a famous player among other players on the field? The badge is in his hands!

The badge allows him to be the foreman on the field, I mean to be the first man of the team when need arises; nothing else. The badge does not make him the most skillful on the team, and of course he doesn't earn the badge because he had scored the highest goal for the team.

Yes, he is not the most skillful, but he is the most recognized! Why? Because he has a branded badge on his arm. At that period of his life, the skill he has doesn't determine how famous he is, that badge on his arm has made him to be famous even though there are players on the team who are more skillful than he is.

Upon having that badge; every decision he makes, every skill he displays, every knowledge he applies, every input he implements becomes more visible than those of the other players.

Dear visionary, It is not your educational qualifications and acquired skills that will make the logos of your vision, you think they will but they can't! All of them are subordinate which need a host to hang on; they need a badge, they need a brand!

It is a thing to have certain skills that qualify you for anchoring a vision, it is another thing to create a unique pattern or code that attract people to know you have such skills.

Moreover, it is worthy of note that for every skill that you claim to have, you are not the only one that has those skills. Even if you don't see anyone around you who have those skills when you discover them, note that some people will soon discover theirs after you. The symbol you give to your own skills will make the difference.

Have you been thinking lately why you are not doing well with that vision in your hands? Maybe you thought it's just because that skill has become a general focus in town.
Could it be that it's because there's no badge that distinguishes between the results of those skills and yours?

We found a lot of products in the market, we saw the good and the bad, and yet we couldn't trace the good ones to their manufacturers; we couldn't trace those values to you.

Finally, stop shifting all your focus in building the nations of tomorrow, start placing little focus on how today's nation will know that you are the builder of their successors.

Till we meet on my next publishing, don't forget the saying that "A good name is far better than gold and silver". It is good you note that while branding your vision.
God bless you!

  2. Wow! Bravo🥰

I really commend you for giving us this food of thought....i had the good fortune of reading your article regarding how a captain's badge serves as an added advantage to a captain...not considering his ability, and performance It was well-written and contained sound, practical advice. In fact, I have already benefited from your discussion on risk versus return. You pointed out several things that I will remember for years to come. I look forward to reading your next informative work. Thank you.
